Emmeline Pankhurst is without a doubt a woman I admire a lot and I would like to meet her if I'd ever be given a chance. Either by time traveling , there's no such a thing of course or simply by whishing...
She was the leader of the British suffragette movement and created female voting rights that would eventually be given to most European women. Although her parents wanted her to be contempt with getting married , having children and raising a family...
In 1930 there were statue made of her placed in Victoria Tower Garden, London.
I think that Pankhurst must be considered one of history's first real feminists.

Christina, Queen of Sweden
Christina, was the daughter of the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus or Gustav II Adolph of Sweden and his wife Queen Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg. She was to become the only surviving child out of at least four children born and later she succeded her father on the throne and become queen of Sweden.
What's so remarkable is that she never married and yet managed to rule her kingdom and her people until 1952 when she willingly choose to abdicate her throne to become a devoted Catholic and thus moved to Italy where she later died in 1689.
I think it's interesting with feamle leaders that has such a strong principles like Jeanne D'Arc and Elizabeth the I just as I think highly of women in power positions that chooses to remain unmarried even if society and time demanded otherwise.
Maybe this makes me an angry feminst...

Elizabeth I
Elizabeth I was one out of Henry VIII's two daughters, and her mother was the infamous Anne Boleyn Henry VIII's second wife. Unlike her halft sister Mary I, Elizabeth I didn't share her half sister's Catholic faith as Mary's mother was Catherine of Aragon, a Spanish Princess.
What's so remarkable about Elizabeth I is that she never choose to marrry although she may have contemplated it... Her half sister Mary I did marry Phillip of Spain in attempt to take power from her half sister perhaps. Furthermore Elizabeth'd reign become long lasting and people like Thomas Seymore and other people would play an important role for the Elizabethan culture.
She also managed to win over Spain when the Spanish armadda, tried to conquer Britain. She truely was a remarkable queen that seemed to have understood what it would have meant if she was to marry. A marriage for a royal person wasn't anything that would have been taken lightly and it would most likely have consequences that would affect the politics of that time. So maybe she was a clever queen in that way...
When Elizabeth I died in 1603 it marked the end of Tudor House reign of power over the English throne as Mary Queen of Scots and thus her cousin died , her son James I of Scotland became the new ruler over Great Britain as well.
I guess I consider her a rolemodel because she never married, in a time where it was expected of daughters to marry. Yet because she never married it meant that she never got an heir to royal throne, which made her distant relative the next monarch in the Tudor house.

Jeanne D'Arc
Sometimes I wish I could be more like the French heroine Jeanne D'Arc, really really believing in your principles having that kind of conviction and belief in yourself. Even dying for your principles and for your country....
I'm not a Catholic I'm not even sure if I believe in God, I believe in something.. maybe not God. I respect the people that do but personally I can't say that I do. I was raised as a Swedish child therefore I'm a Lutheran. There I said it.
But I still admire Jeanne D'Arc for her courage, her conviction, belief and principles. She was alive in the 15th century,so if anything maybe she was one of the world's first feminists...
Yet I'll never become a Catholic... Of that I'm sure, but it doesn't make me any less of a person. A person's religion, race or sexual orientation shouldn't matter, because in the end all people are equals ; we're equals when we're born and we're equals before death...
